Services

24-Hour Hotline

The 24-hour hotline (815)932-5800 is available 365 days a year and is answered by caring, domestic violence professionals equipped to respond to any type of domestic violence crisis.

Chat Hotline

To connect to the chat, go to harborhousedv.org and click CHAT NOW. The Chat Hotline is available 24 hours. Please note that the chat may not be safe for everyone. If you suspect your partner has spyware on your device, a call from a public phone, friend's phone, etc. is safer.

Community Education & Prevention

Harbor House offers community education, professional training, institutional advocacy, and prevention presentations to the community to increase awareness and understanding of domestic violence. Call 815-932-5814 or email community@harborhousedv.org to schedule a presenter for your group, school, workplace, etc. Available in both Kankakee and Iroquois Counties.

Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter

Harbor House provides emergency shelter to survivors of domestic violence in Kankakee and Iroquois counties. Harbor House is pet-friendly and available to any survivor, no matter gender identity. Shelter includes a bedroom, food, referrals, and counseling and legal advocacy, if desired. The specific length of stay is directly related to goal-related issues. There are domestic violence emergency shelters in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties.

Individual and Group Counseling

Harbor House provides individual and group counseling to adult and youth survivors of domestic violence. Individual/group adult or child counseling is available in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. Counseling includes focuses on crisis intervention, domestic violence education, and more.

Legal Advocacy

Harbor House offers legal advocates to support survivors through the court system. Legal advocates are not attorneys. Legal advocates can assist survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection against their offenders and assistance on return court dates. They also assist and offer services to survivors in domestic violence-related trials and civil court proceedings. Services are offered in both Kankakee and Iroquois locations.

Resale Shoppe

The Harbor House Resale Shoppe is located at 100 East Walnut Street, Watseka. It offers upscale, name brand items at affordable prices and clothing for the entire family, household items, furniture and tons of odds and ends. The Shoppe accepts donations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday during store hours at the Watseka facility and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Kankakee County facility. A list of items Harbor House cannot accept can be found at www.harborhousedv.org. The store is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The shoppe is closed Thursday and Sunday. Accepts cash or check only. Volunteer Services

Individuals interested in volunteering with Harbor House can sign up for a required 40-hour domestic violence training, which is offered twice a year. After successfully completing the training, volunteers may assist in the shelter, the hotline, outreach events, group activities, and more.
