Sleep Lab

Sleeping is a vital part of the day that provides energy and adequate functioning. The Sleep Lab at Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee Hospital is dedicated to detecting irregularities during sleep. Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) affects five percent of the population. OSAS occurs when the sleep-related throat narrowing is so great that breathing becomes difficult. Loud snoring is the hallmark indication of this potentially life-threatening disorder, although not everyone who snores has OSAS. If left untreated, it can cause excessive daytime sleepiness, hypertension, menstrual irregularities in women, depression, and other problems. If you experience heavy snoring, an inability to fall asleep, frequent morning headaches, impotence, or other problematic symptoms, make an appointment with the Sleep Lab. Inadequate sleep may be the cause, and early detection is important. Sleep labs are offered every day of the week except for Saturdays. Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee will, however, work with the patient's schedule and conduct sleeps on Saturdays when necessary. Recording time lasts six hours, so many patients prefer an overnight stay. In-home sleep tests are also available depending on insurance coverage and specific qualifications. Contact Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee Hospital Sleep Lab at 815-937-2296 for more information.

Ascension Saint Mary Kankakee wound healing services offer unique, comprehensive outpatient therapy for both acute (those caused by injury) and chronic (hard to heal) wounds. Nearly five million Americans suffer from chronic open sores as a result of diabetes, pressure ulcers, or circulatory problems. Your primary care provider or the referring provider will be kept informed of your progress.
